Wer als Sozialforscher ein qualitatives Forschungsdesign wählt, kam bislang am Platzhirsch “MaxQDA” zur Analyse der Daten (Interviews, Feldnotizen, Beobachtungsprotokolle, etc.) nicht vorbei. Dieses Tool, welches nur für Windows verfügbar ist, und zudem einen recht hohen Lizenzobulus fordert, wird derzeit von fast allen unserer Studenten verwendet.

Mit FreeQDA wurde nun ein Projekt gestartet, welches sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, eine freie, quelloffene und plattform-unabhängige Variante dieser Software zu schaffen. Die Initiierung des Projekts wurde von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Pflegewissenschaft (DGP) gefördert. Die BETA-Version von FreeQDA steht nun zum Download bereit.
